A travel blog for those who like to travel with family and friends
Join us as we embark on unforgettable family adventures! Our travel blog captures the joys, challenges, and heart-warming moments of exploring the world with our three children and our extended family and friends. Our goal is to inspire other families to get out there, create memories, and experience the world together.
My name is Anneka and my greatest loves are my family and adventuring. I met my husband Jim at sixth form. At 18, I went on my first holiday, a trip to Corfu with Jim. I finished the trip on a beach with a puppy, nursing an arm in a sling and sore all over. The moped we had hired was held together with chewing gum and we were inexperienced, a crash was inevitable. Undeterred by this, the love for travelling was born.
I grew up on Portland in Dorset (UK) scrambling over rocks, exploring caves and in the sea. My 3 siblings and most of our family lived on the Island. Now, we are all spread out with our families. Coming together for trips has been a great way to spend time with family and for our children to bond with their grandparents and cousins. We are a neurospicy family. My son is diagnosed with ASC, my nephew with ASC and ADHD but similar traits exist undiagnosed throughout the family. There are difficulties when travelling with a large group of diverse people, more so when you factor in potential difficulties neurodiverse people face, like increased anxiety and sensory overload. We have also experienced the benefits of travel with neurodiverse people. We hope that by sharing our experiences and research, more people will be inspired to invite grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles or family friends along for the ride.
